Q: Is the LM358DT rail-to-rail?
A: No. The LM358 is a classic bipolar op-amp with common-mode input range that includes ground (0V) but stops ~1.5V below VCC. Output swings to within ~1V of ground. For rail-to-rail, consider the TSX series.
Q: Can the LM358DT be used as a comparator?
A: Yes, but it's not optimized for it — the output slew rate and propagation delay are slower than dedicated comparators like the LM393. For pure comparator applications with fast response, use the LM393DT.
